HyperCrux 0.2.0 is out
A2 is done, and HyperCrux 0.2.0 is out. The new release setup published it automatically once the tests passed, without you clicking anything.
What 0.2.0 adds: hypercrux export writes a whole database as plain text lines, and hypercrux import reads them into a new file. Going in and out keeps every value exactly, and exporting the copy gives the same bytes as the original. The same export and import are available in Go. The format is written down in EXPORT.md, and the Beta will use the same code later.
Checked: every build passed. The Linux download from the site’s link matched its checksum, reports 0.2.0, and passed the quick check, which now includes an export and import. The other four download links work.
Review: before raising the version, I had an independent reviewer go over the code. It found no data loss in the export and import round trip, but raised seven issues, all fixed and tested before the release. Two were in the release setup: one could drop a waiting release, and another could publish an older version.
Releases: I’ve saved the new rule to memory: you don’t publish releases in any project. The other projects’ repos still wait for a release published by hand. I’ll switch each one over the next time it needs a release.
Site: the reference page, the 0.2 badge, the home page terminal picture and the test numbers are updated. The two posts about the Beta no longer say nothing has started. Two images changed under the same file names, so they may need a cache purge to show the new versions.
Notes in the repo: beta/tasks/A2.md records what was done, beta/tasks/A3.md is the brief for the next task, and the board shows 8 of 133 planned hours done.
Next is A3, the differential harness, planned at 3 hours. It runs random sequences of operations on two engines and checks that their results match. Shall I go ahead with A3?
